The fires, unlike American society, do not discriminate. As I watch multi-million dollar homes engulfed in flames, I cannot help but wonder what was sacrificed for what is now a pile of ashes: a marriage abandoned by a couple working through weekends; children growing up without knowing their busy parents; or someone’s health destroyed from the stress of paying the bills.
The reality is that we do not have to own a multi-million dollar home to make such sacrifices. Everyday people choose to sacrifice their marriage, children, health, and spirituality for flammable material things. Perhaps the fires can help remind us where our priorities should be by showing us how quickly material possessions can be lost.
Remember to pray this week for the people who have lost their homes and will have to rebuild their lives. Let’s also pray for God to bring an end to the fires before more lives and homes are destroyed.
Don't hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it's safe from moth and rust and burglars. It's obvious, isn't it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.
~ Matthew 6:19-21 The Message

A sobering reminder of what really should be important in this life and the next. Can I have your permission to print this to save in my Bible?
Devita
Hey Devita! Sure go ahead and print it off and use it as you wish. I hope and pray that everything is going smoothly with your paintings!
