Wandering Eyes

It was a Saturday night and I was out dining with a couple of friends when I noticed a peculiar sight; men all across the restaurant were looking my way. What was going on behind me that had the eyes of men throughout the restaurant wandering away from their dates? My curiosity ended when I turned to see a wrestling match on a TV.

Every man was struggling between paying attention to his date and checking out the wrestling match. As women sat across from their dates looking beautiful for date night, men blankly stared at them waiting for the moment they could catch another glimpse at the TV.

Like the women in the restaurant that night, God is more than aware of our wandering eyes. As we gaze upon God, He reveals His infinite beauty to us. Yet, isn’t it funny how our eyes start to wander?

God sees our glances at the convenient lie that would solve the mess we are in; He sees our glances at the easy way out of an obligation; He sees our glances at the opportunity to give less than our best; and He sees our glances at the glitter of the enticing sin that surrounds us. With such a beautiful and majestic God to gaze upon, why do we have such wandering eyes?

Where have your eyes been wandering? Turn your gaze back on God this week. Allow His beauty to captivate your heart, soul, and mind.

Blessings,

Stephanie
